Appeals Terminology
- APPEALS TRIBUNAL
- A referee appointed to conduct hearings and make decisions on appeals from administrative determinations and petitions for reassessment.
- CSR
- Code of State Regulations.
- COMMISSION
- The Labor and Industrial Relations Commission of Missouri, composed of up to three commissioners appointed by the governor.
- DECISION
- An administrative ruling made by an Appeals Tribunal after a hearing.
- DE NOVO
- A term that means the appeal must be heard from the beginning, and the parties must present evidence to the Referee even though such evidence had been previously given to the deputy.
- DEPUTY
- An employee of the Division designated to make investigations and administrative determinations under Chapter 288 RSMo of the Missouri Revised Statutes.
- DES
- The Missouri Division of Employment Security.
- DETERMINATION
- An administrative ruling made by a deputy without a hearing.
- ORDER
- An administrative ruling by an Appeals Tribunal when no hearing is held.
- REFEREE
- An employee of DES designated to serve on an Appeals Tribunal and function as an administrative judge.
- RSMo
- The Missouri Revised Statutes.
