The following information is an overview of the appeals process for a determination regarding unemployment insurance (UI) benefits by the Division of Employment Security.
1. Appeal
Division of Employment Security (DES), Appeals Tribunal
- You have 30 days from the date of determination to file a timely appeal.
- You must file online through UInteract or by mail or fax.

2. Application for Review
Labor and Industrial Relations Commission (LIRC)
- You have 30 days from the date of the appeal decision to file a timely Application for Review.
- You must file by mail or fax.
- You cannot file an Application for Review if you have not received a decision from the Appeals Tribunal.

3. Notice of Appeal
Missouri Court of Appeals
- You have 30 days from the date of the decision to file a timely appeal to the Missouri Court of Appeals by submitting a Notice of Appeal (Form 8-B) to the LIRC.
- You must file by mail or fax.

- You cannot file a Notice of Appeal if you have not received a decision from the LIRC.
