JEFFERSON CITY, MO – Anna S. Hui, Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations Director today announced Taylor Burks will serve as the next Division of Labor Standards Director. “Taylor joins our team with great experience and qualifications and will be a tremendous asset to the Division of Labor Standards,” said Hui. “He brings a depth of executive, operational, and personnel leadership knowledge, and I look forward to working with him in this position.”
Burks earned a B.S. in Justice Systems from Truman State University, a Master’s in Administrative Leadership and a Master’s of Accounting. He recently served as the County Clerk and Local Election Authority in Boone County. Prior to that position, he was Director of Distribution, Logistics and Asset Management for the University of Missouri System. Burks has served in various positions, including Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy since 2007.
“I’m excited to join Governor Parson’s administration with Director Hui’s team, and contribute to the mission of the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations,” said Burks. “We have a lot opportunities to use my operational experiences to continue improving the services we provide to Missouri employers and workers.”
The Division of Labor Standards assists employers comply with Missouri labor laws and ensure Missourians are safe on the job and paid wages required by law. The Division offers free consultation services to employers to reduce workplace fatalities and helps businesses comply with federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations. Mine and cave inspections are also provided along with training to miners on safe work practices. Taylor Burks will begin his new role January 14, 2018.
