ROGERSVILLE, MO - The Missouri Department of Labor’s On-Site Safety and Health Consultation Program announced Bill’s Quick Mart as the newest member of the state’s Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP).
“The SHARP program is dedicated to promoting a culture of safety for our workers at Missouri businesses,” said Anna Hui, Acting Director of the Department of Labor. “We congratulate the team at Bill’s Quick Mart for achieving their workplace safety goals and joining an elite group of Missouri businesses.”
Free On-Site Safety and Health Consultations are provided to businesses at their request. Businesses that participate in the Missouri On-Site Safety and Health Consultation Program may be eligible to become a SHARP member. SHARP members have lower workers’ compensation insurance premiums and are exempt from Occupational Safety and Health Administration inspections for a period of time.
“I’m so proud of the fact that we are the first convenience store in the state to earn the SHARP award,” says Store Manager, Linda Collins. “That’s quite the accomplishment for a single store operation like Bill’s Quick Mart. I believe the work that we put into keeping our employees safe can be an example the rest of the industry can work toward.”
Bill’s Quick Mart was honored for its achievement during a ceremony Aug. 8, 2017, at its place of business, located at 20 Glendale Dr., in Rogersville, Mo. Officials from OSHA and the Missouri Department of Labor attended the event to present Bill’s Quick Mart a certificate of recognition, a SHARP flag and a proclamation issued by Governor Eric R.Greitens.
In fiscal year 2017, the safety program corrected conditions at participating businesses that could have resulted in more than $9.1 million in OSHA fines. In addition, 4,210 workplace hazards were remedied. For more information about SHARP or to request a free safety and health consultation, visit labor.mo.gov/SAFE or call 573-522-SAFE.
